Traditional puppetry may well play a part in a planned tourism festival in India, it has been reported.
The Ayyancherry-based puppetry institute Samanwaya Pavanataka Sanghom has been informed by the country's tourism department that its marionette shows and construction classes are being considered for inclusion in a year-long tourism festival, according to the Hindu.
Director of the institute Mr T Kunhiraman told the publication that puppetry - as a traditional art form - should be given its place while efforts to promote tourism in the region are underway.
Earlier this month, it was revealed by the publication that India has received a number of international awards for tourism and culture from the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
