The Rugby World Cup is providing France with a boost in tourism as hundred of thousands of sports fans descend on the country, it has been reported.
Luc Chatel, tourism minister for France, has asserted that approximately 350,000 fans from across the world - and their families - would visit the country during the six-week rugby tournament which ends next weekend, according to Radio New Zealand.
Mr Chatel added that he believes rugby supporters spend more than the average tourist, as well as the typical sports fan.
Radio New Zealand states that when France hosted the football World Cup in 1998, around 500,000 fans visited the country during the tournament, but many came only for a short period of time and did not bring their families with them.
Tomorrow will see a semi-final match between France and England take place in Saint-Denis.
