Investing in a safe will ensure that consumers get cover from insurers, according to the Safe Shop.
Anthony Neary, managing director of the online safe supplier, commented that while purchasing a safe will not necessarily reduce a
home insurance premium, it will make sure that people who would otherwise be incapable of getting a policy are able to obtain cover.
"Certain customers are told that they must buy a safe otherwise they're not going to give them cover for whatever items they've got there. It would be people with excess amounts of valuable items," he explained.
He concluded that consumers could lower their
home insurance premiums through fitting door and window locks to their properties.
The British Crime Survey reports that there were 300,555 recorded offences of burglary in England and Wales in 2005-06.
