One Yorkshire motorist may be thankful for his
car insurance after he followed his sat nav down a footpath - and right to the edge of a cliff.
Robert Jones, from Doncaster, followed his sat nav directions down a footpath in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, when he was travelling to visit friends.
However, he eventually came to a stop when his car hit a fence on a cliff above Gauxholme railway bridge, leaving it teetering over the 100 ft high edge.
According to the Telegraph, the rescue operation to recover the car took nine hours.
The newspaper notes that Mr Jones can "expect to receive a hefty recovery bill" to cover the cost of the incident.
He told the source that the sat nav kept insisting the narrow path was a road and that - despite the incident taking place in broad daylight - he followed the directions.
"I guess I'm just lucky the car didn't slip all the way over the edge but it's been a bit of a nightmare," he admitted.
