Winter sports insurance could prove to be a wise investment for holidaymakers taking a skiing trip in Scotland this winter.

Those looking for a low-cost break could find Scotland is an ideal place to visit, with GMTV nutritionist Amanda Hamilton insisting that the country is a cheap spot with a lot to offer.

She also told the Aberdeen Press and Journal that because of Scotland's size, holidaymakers could find they did not need to travel far to enjoy the great outdoors.

"Last year, I tried skiing at Cairngorm for the first time and absolutely loved it. I also like mountain biking at Glentress Forest near Peebles, although I've had to give that up temporarily because I'm expecting my second baby" she told the newspaper.

Domestic breaks are experiencing a surge in popularity as Brits try and cut back on their holiday expenditure, but those who don't get the right holiday insurance could find themselves out of pocket in the future.
