Those keen to reminisce on the holidays of their childhood could find a visit to Walsall Museum enjoyable.
But for those who don't wish to bring back memories of broken-down family cars on the way to the seaside, checking their breakdown insurance before setting off is a must.
The Birmingham Mail reports that Walsall museum is to hold a Seaside Holiday exhibition from May to September this year.
Organisers are searching for holiday items from local residents to feature in the exhibition.
The newspaper reports that old holiday photos, bathing costumes, buckets, spades and souvenirs are being sought.
Jennifer Thomson, community history curator at the venue, said: "What we're looking for are any items that people may have kept or memories preserved in old photographs of holidays long ago."
She said that the event remembers a time when "exotic holidays abroad were just a dream".
More people are expected to take domestic breaks this year, as a result of the economic downturn.
