The Audi A8 has received a What Car? Green Award for the second year in a row for its excellent fuel efficiency and low emissions.
What Car? Revealed that the A8 2.8 FSI picked up the Green Luxury Car Award for the second consecutive year because of emissions levels of 199g/km of CO2 thanks to its innovative hybrid diesel/petrol-electric engine.
In addition, the vehicle is capable of achieving 34 mpg and emits the lowest proportion of harmful nitrogen oxides (NOX) in its class.
The What Car? test team noted: "It means that you don't have to pay the three per cent company car tax penalty levied on diesel engines and NOX emissions are also very low."
Meanwhile, the Vauxhall Ampera recently received the What Car? Green Technology Award for its new Voltec propulsion system.
The vehicle was praised for its ability to carry out extended journeys using electrical propulsion backed up by a small petrol engine to maintain the battery's charge.
