Annual
travel insurance is becoming an increasingly popular option among those looking for holiday cover, Halifax said on Tuesday.
The rise of cheap flights is leading to Britons taking shorter breaks, and preferring annual cover to having to take insurance every time they decide to go away.
'More and more people are taking more than the traditional one summer holiday a a year so it makes more sense to have annual cover,' said David Bruce, a spokesperson for the bank.
But Halifax also warned that a trip to the US would also result in higher travel insurance.
'It differs between Europe and the United States because the medical fees are much more expensive there than they are in Europe,' added Mr Bruce.
And a common mistake made by those making a travel insurance claim was often to forget to take the crime reference number in order for the claim to be validated.
