Once the butt of many-a-joke, the humble Skoda has been voted British motorists' favourite car.
Skoda's Octavia saloon came top in a survey of its owners, who scored it highly in all categories.
The car has replaced usual favourites Honda, Mazda and Lexus, who have been the only makes to win the Auto Express Driver Power survey since 2002.
Owners of the Octavia scored it highly in terms of reliability, comfort, performance, running costs and general customer satisfaction.
"The Octavia is a deserving winner of the Best Car title in Driver Power 2007," said David johns, editor-in-chief of Auto Express.
"With great reliability and a strong set of results across our judging categories, it will be tough to beat in next year's survey.
"Owners have struggled to find any faults with Skoda's family car."
