Spain is popular among British tourists because it offers a warm, sociable, child-friendly and cost-effective environment, it has been suggested.
According to the Spanish Property Owners Guild (SPOG), the country promotes an outdoor lifestyle that the UK lacks.
Paul Bradley, spokesperson for the SPOG, explains that it offers cost benefits too.
"It is actually cheaper to fly here than take the train from London to Birmingham," he asserts.
He continues by suggesting that Spain is the "quintessential example of how life used to be in the UK".
Furthermore, Mr Bradley notes Spain's rich cultural heritage, with many interesting sights to keep Brits entertained.
However, the SPOG representative advised that for those considering a move to the country, it is important to try and learn the language and integrate with the local community.
According to the Association of International Property Professionals, Spain held its place as the most popular destination for UK residents buying property abroad.
