Research into those who are most likely to speed has found that footballers are the most likely to be caught with the pedal to the metal.
A study by price comparison site moneysupermarket.com found that au pairs and astrologists are the least likely to commit a speeding offence, with only four and two per cent of each profession being caught speeding in past five years respectively.
Richard Mason, director of insurance at the site, commented that the
car insurance industry needs to re-examine the amount it charges for premiums as those such as astrologers and au pairs should be paying "a lot less" than footballers and other well-paid individuals.
"Perhaps the pressure of high-powered jobs causes drivers to break the limit. Higher pay cheques often mean flashier cars too, which might encourage drivers to put their foot down."
Recent research by
car insurance provider Admiral indicated that households with more than one car are 22 per cent less likely to be involved in a crash than those with only one vehicle.
