Army officers could find their pay packets stretched because of their haste behind the wheel, moneysupermarket.com has claimed.
Recent research carried out by the price comparison site found that more than a quarter of officers have admitted to speeding in the past five years, compared to 1.3 per cent of anthropologists.
The group added that homeowners may take comfort in the finding that au pairs are more cautious behind the wheel, with two per cent of au pairs found driving in excess of the speed limit.
Commenting on the findings, Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, said: "As a reflection on their adrenaline fuelled and active profession, army officers are most likely to be caught hurtling down the motorway."
However, he warned that being caught speeding twice could raise
car insurance premiums by as much as a third.
Last month, the group also warned that using a mobile phone whilst behind the wheel could also result in a hefty cover hike, as well as the possibility of a fine.
