An increase in the strength of sterling against the euro in recent months is good news for Britons planning trips abroad, it has been claimed.
Taking out
annual multi trip insurance is one way to help limit the costs of overseas excursions. However, Marc Cogliatti, currency strategist at HiFX, argued that while taking a European holiday this year might not be as economical as in previous years, the growth in strength of sterling is welcome news for anyone planning a trip to the continent.
He commented: "In the grand scheme of things the pound is now 15 per cent higher, compared to where we were at the start of the year. That is obviously good news for holidaymakers."
Independent travel agent Midlands Co-op Travel also recently noted that Britons are becoming more inclined to visit destinations outside of the eurozone to capitalise on the strength of the pound against non-euro currencies.
A spokesperson for the company noted that Brits are beginning to take the cost of spending while overseas more into consideration when choosing their holiday destinations.
