A tourism scheme has been launched by a Philippines-based company in order to promote the country through surfing, it has emerged.
Onboard Philippines is being led by Freddy Gonzalez - president of Boardsports - and aims to explore and in turn promote "beach-breaks and surf-spots", asserts the Manila Times.
Mr Gonzalez told the publication: "Surfing, more than any other sport, represents such a pure form of being connected. Wave-riding is a unique and powerful experience that you can't help but appreciate it and enjoy it as much as you possibly can."
The campaign to promote the country on an international level is being run in partnership with the Philippine Department of Tourism, the newspaper explains.
Earlier this month, it was reported by Manila Bulletin that an eco-tourism development on the Philippines' Hamilo Coast is reporting swift success.
