UK travellers looking to sample the delights of the Far East could be well advised to take out
holiday insurance and visit Taiwan, it has been claimed.
Josephine Huang, marketing manager of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, said Taiwan is like a microcosm of Asia with beaches to rival those in Thailand, mountains like Malaysia's Cameron Highlands and great Japanese and Chinese food.
She commented: "This makes it an ideal place for travellers if they've been to other countries in Asia and are looking for a road less travelled - or if they've never been are looking for an introduction to all that the Far East is good at."
Ms Huang added the exchange rate at present also means that Brits will get good value when visiting Taiwan.
According to figures from the Pacific Asia Travel Association, visitors to the Asia Pacific region grew by three per cent year-on-year in November.
