Brits looking to take out
travel insurance and head to the Caribbean on holiday this year have been advised that talking to the locals could really improve their experience.
Nadine Hallak, a spokesperson for Cheapflights.co.uk, said local people will know where all the best restaurants and bars are and could point travellers in the right direction to get the most out of their holiday.
She commented: "The joy of the Caribbean is the relaxation offered by its natural beauty and permeated in the island attitude - by planning, you'll minimise any unnecessary stress and ensure you enjoy the area."
According to the Caribbean Tourism Organization, tourism is expected to grow in the region by up to three per cent this year as the global economy continues to see recovery.
It noted that despite the global economic slump, the Caribbean remains one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. A total of 22.1 million people visited the region in 2009, down from 22.9 million in 2008.
