The majority of British homeowners love carrying out a good spring clean on their home, according to a new survey.
Despite the common belief that traditional spring cleans are a thing of the past, research from Total UK reveals that some 60 per cent of the population actually like them.
More than half of drivers also admitted that they enjoy the 'feeling' of having a clutter-free, clean home and car, while a quarter of respondents said they got a buzz from it.
But despite the enthusiasm, the research also shows that Britons are not actually very good at spring cleaning, with a third just moving clutter from one place to another.
Meanwhile, some homeowners just carry out the minimum cleaning in order to get the job done as quickly as possible.
If you're thinking of cleaning out your home, then this weekend is the best time to do it as a psychologist has worked out that March 31st is the best day of the year to pull on those gloves and get cleaning.
Dr Cliff Arnall worked out that this is the best day, taking into consideration emotional and environmental factors.
Dr Arnall said: "March is a time to overcome feelings of stagnation and to start making changes that focus on what makes us happy.
"Planned and reasonable physical decluttering and cleaning kick starts mental cleaning which translates into an enhanced positive psychological state in the form of boosted self-esteem and increased creativity.
"This coupled with lengthening daylight and subsequent temperature rises makes plans easier to achieve."
