For those planning trips abroad, it is advisable to think about the types of activities that will be undertaken before leaving to ensure that adequate
travel insurance cover is obtained.
Such is the assertion of Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for the British Insurance Brokers' Association, the UK's leading general insurance organisation.
Mr Trudgill notes that it is important to establish which sports and activities will need to be covered as each insurance provider offers varying levels of protection.
"If you are going on a beach holiday, you might be doing some paragliding there. If so, make sure you are covered for that and try and get a policy that does not charge any extra," he suggests.
He continues that it is important to discuss activities with a broker whether cover will be included under the terms of a policy.
A report published by the organisation last year has found that less than half (42 per cent) of consumers were advised by their broker on hazardous sports.
