Thousands of new hotel rooms for Qatar

Qatar is due to receive some 10,000 new hotel rooms by 2010, it has been reported.

The Gulf Times states that 3,600 tourist apartments are also planned for the region in the three-year period.

Of the planned new developments, almost 7,000 of the hotel rooms and nearly 3,000 apartment rooms will be completed during 2008.

Properties currently under construction in the region include Shaza Kempinksi, Dubai Towers and three hotels in Pearl Qatar.

New facilities that will be opened this year include Holiday Hotel Villa and Residence, which will boast a total of 754 rooms, Grand Hyatt with 300 rooms and Marriott Renaissance, which will have a total of 257 guest rooms.

In related news, the Daily Telegraph recently listed the best new hotels for 2008, which includes an eco-boutique lodge in Mozambique and a former palace in Belgium.
