Toronto is appealing to be the dream destination for those who want to experience the thrill of the North American winter but also require the luxury of a city break this month.

Tourists are encouraged to get their mittens on before being treated to a trip around a snow-covered dog-track by purebred Siberian and Alaskan Husky dogs on an activity day organised by MeetMarketAdventures.

Without having to pack a tent and attempting a Captain Scott-style mission into the Arctic, you can feel the cool Canadian air rifling through your hair as you surge around the track.

The day continues with one of the fastest growing winter sports - snowshoeing. Using specially designed footwear, adventurers can 'float' over the snow without any trouble, meaning that snowball fighting and snowman building become far easier than usual.

Toronto is also home of the CN Tower, one of the world's tallest free-standing buildings, which provides the best - and most daunting - landscape views of the whole city.

It is also close to the world-famous natural phenomenon of Niagara Falls, which can be experienced through boat tours and hikes.
