Travel plans rained off due to weather

Yesterday's heavy rains and strong winds continue to cause travel problems throughout the UK and beyond.
A large number of train services were cancelled yesterday due to the weather, with high winds in northern France leading to the suspension of Eurostar services.
Eurostar has said that services are back to normal today although trains are busy, while GNER admitted that its full timetable would not be back in operation although an improved service will run.
GNER's East Coast line could only offer a dramatically reduced service, while the Virgin West Coast main line was limited to its emergency timetable, causing many passengers with flights out of the country to have severe difficulty in reaching airports.
Those that could make it to their airport yesterday often found flights severely delayed or cancelled altogether, with British Airways forced to axe more than 100 short-haul or domestic flights from Heathrow.
Schedules are returning to normal at the airport today although cancellations and delays are still up on normal, in scenes that are being mirrored around the country.
