UK travellers are looking to get the best value for money when away on holiday and will eke out as much luxury from a stay as possible, it has been claimed.
Sharron Livingston, editor at thetravelmagazine.net, said as holidaymakers look to travel further afield they are aiming to get more out of their getaway than they have done in the past.
In the cruise sector especially, Ms Livingston noted many travellers will look to negotiate with their tour operators to get more for their money, including free trips and perks.
"Though prices haven't come down too much, the cruise companies have added value such as on board credits, free flights and even free excursions," she commented.
According to Bill Gibbons, director of the Passenger Shipping Association, a record 1.65 million travellers have been predicted to take a cruise in 2010 - an increase of 6.5 per cent in comparison to last year.
