Holidaymakers trying to reduce the cost of a break in every way have been advised not to chop their holiday length.

Brits could find they can save money on an essential purchase by getting a low- cost comprehensive travel insurance policy - which may save them even more cash in the long run.

Writing for the Telegraph, Nick Trend says that Brits don't have to shorten their time away to save money.

He points out that many travel companies are offering good deals in a bid to tempt holidaymakers during tight financial times.

"It is often possible to get at least some extra days free, or for not much more than the cost of a shorter holiday," Mr Trend notes.

He says that in the current climate, getting three nights for the price of two is "quite common".

The Times recently noted that choosing sea over air to travel to the continent may be one way to keep costs down.

InsureandGo offers cheap travel insurance which can cover a break of any length to Europe or any other destination.
