Those planning to book a holiday this year have been armed with some helpful tips to ensure that they are covered should a problem with their holiday reservation arise.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said that package holiday customers should ensure that any company they book with is ATOL registered, as this gives the consumer a large amount of financial protection should the firm go out of business or part of their holiday itinerary changes, reports Travelbite.
For non-package vacations, booking with a credit card offers far greater financial protection than debit card purchases while taking out
travel insurance that includes company insolvency is another good step.
David Clover of the CAA commented: "Many insurance policies do not automatically cover insolvency, so read the small print, and debit cards do not provide the same cover as credit cards."
Some 18 million Britons are expected to book their holidays without the assistance of a package operator this year.
