Turkey is drawing increasing number of visitors thanks to strong investment by the government and interest from property investors, said specialist property developer Nirvana International.

As Turkey's economy continues to go from strength to strength, it still remains a comparatively cheap place to go to, compared to traditional markets for holidaymakers such as Spain.

According to Homes Worldwide, property investment in Turkey by British people has increased fivefold since 2003, with about 17,000 Britons owning property in the country.

This figure is expected to grow strongly, three times the current number in the next few years, as holidaymakers seek to buy places in their chosen destinations.

'The Turkish government are investing heavily into their tourism market and coupled with good temperatures 12 months of the year, Turkey is becoming the perfect place to purchase a property in the sun, with potential for rental yield all year round,' said Natalie Nixon, spokesperson for Nirvana International.

The region of Antalya, called the Turkish Riviera for its good all year round weather, is increasingly popular with tourists and investors, Nirvana reported.

Families and individuals over 40 years of age are increasingly driving the market.
