Turkish holiday resorts Bodrum and Alanya will use revenues collected from visitors this year to develop their tourist infrastructures, according to local reports.

Both towns are highly popular with British tourists and those wishing to invest in real estate and should see a considerable boost to their economies with the influx of the extra cash this year.

On a tour of the Mediterranean coast, culture and tourism minister Atilla Koc said: "We are making an attractive and pleasant city plan for the Bodrum Peninsula and we want to establish a proper infrastructure system in Bodrum," reports Turkish Daily News.

He added: "The most pleasing thing is to see the sensitivity of local authorities to the issue.

"We transferred tourism revenues last year to Antalya's holiday resort of Lara and this year our plan is to allocate tourism revenues to Bodrum as well as Alanya."

Bodrum and Antalya are popular sites for water sports as they have good facilities and calm, warm and clean waters right along the coastline that are couched by stunning cliffs, un-trampled by the tourist trade.

Turkey's cultural heritage is vast and the towns offer the more discerning traveller ruins dating back to the 15th century as well as the customary Turkish spas.

Over 40 adventure sports are covered automatically by InsureandGo's travel insurance policies.
