Art lovers may find that they are tempted to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in coming months, as plans are in place to host an exhibition in Abu Dhabi next year.

TradeArabia reports that a number of pieces from the renowned Khalili collection will go on display at the Emirates Palace Hotel's exhibition hall from January 23rd 2008.

Being organised by the Tourist, Development & Investment Company (TDIC), part of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the display will comprise some 500 works.

Shaikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of ADTA, TDIC and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage, explains that the exhibition will raise awareness of the region as a cultural centre.

"This is an exhibition of international acclaim and its staging is in line with our ambition of establishing the UAE capital as a global cultural centre," he adds.

Other upcoming events in the region include the Emirates International Fine Art and Antiques Fair.
