The new biopic of Beatrix Potter's life is set to be released in Japan this month, and the Lake District is already getting ready for a new surge of visitors.

Officials from Cumbria Tourism and the Lake District Japan are expecting a new boost in Asian tourism due to the popularity of Beatrix Potter's works in Japan.

It is hoped that the new film with Rene Zellweger in the lead role will also gain new converts for her work in Japan's youth, as well as inspire her current readers to make a trip to the author's spiritual home.

The Japan Office and VisitBritain has now translated thousands of copies of the Cumbria Tourism's Miss Potter Movie Map guide that points out and leads visitors through the locations of the film.

The map will lead fans through Ambleside, Bowness, Coniston, Dent, Hawkshead, Keswick, Loweswater, Whitehaven and Windermere.

"This is just one of many measures we are taking to ensure that the hugely significant Japanese market knows precisely what Cumbria – the Lake District has to offer when it comes to arguably their favourite adopted author," said Ian Stephens, said chief executive of Cumbria Tourism.
