Problems in the UK travel industry have prompted people to look over their
travel insurance arrangements according to a report.
Financial Advice says that many people are concerned about not being able to get back from their trips abroad after recent events where holidaymakers were left stranded when companies went bust.
The firm claims that both insurers and consumers will now face the same problem, as those jetting off will now want insurance that will ensure they can get home in the event of a tour operator's collapse, which is "potentially expensive" for insurance companies.
In related news, the Guardian recently reported that the demise of airline XL meant the "days of cheap travel are over", according to chief executive of TUI, Peter Long.
The newspaper reports that XL collapsed due to rising fuel costs. It is one of a number of airlines to cease trading recently, with others including Zoom, MaxJet, Silverjet and Oasis.
