As springtime officially sets in, Britons are turning their attention towards summer holiday destinations, rather than winter sun breaks.

Red Sea holidays were the most searched-for breaks last month, research from moneysupermarket.com reveals.

Gran Canaria, Costa Blanca and the Algarve were next in line as UK residents sought some summer sun.

Majorca, a popular holiday destination among Britons, came in at eighth place.

A spokesperson for moneysupermarket.com said: "This week we see Majorica rising to eighth position – the first time this destination has entered the Top Ten this year for package holidays – and replacing Lanzarote.

"Users are starting to look at summer holiday destinations."
