Brits planning to take out
holiday insurance for a break in the UK could be pleased to learn that hotel prices are down across the country.
Matt Walls, marketing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Hotels.com, said many hoteliers are presently willing to negotiate on price in order to boost room uptake and this could be good news for Brits planning a domestic holiday this year.
He commented: "Inevitably there are shortfalls in revenue coming from the business to business sector and [hotels] are keen to make that up via a better penetration of the leisure market."
According to Hotels.com's latest price index, hotel costs in the UK fell by 13 per cent last year, taking prices across the country to their lowest level for six years.
Furthermore, the falls meant that London became a more affordable destination for those planning a visit to the capital, with prices down seven per cent on average.
InsureandGo offers holiday insurance for anyone planning a break in the UK.
