Prudent parents might wish to invest in
adventure insurance to cover the costs of any injuries after it has been revealed that children in the UK want to cycle more.
Greg Woodford, cycle training officer at CTC - The UK's National Cyclists' Organisation, said that when today's parents were young many of them felt the benefits of cycling; however, the growth in traffic on the roads now mean that many mums and dads do not feel that it is safe for their children to do the same.
He commented: "The key is training and delivering cycling activities to the families. Once the families understand that it is great out there, it's safe and fun, then they will encourage their kids to cycle more."
Research carried out by Halfords recently showed that 74 per cent of British children would like to cycle more with their parents, while 48 per cent felt that cycling was a good way to keep fit.
InsureandGo offers adventure insurance to cover against injuries while on a cycling holiday.
