Many homes across the UK are at risk of being easily broken into by thieves, new research suggests.

A study by home insurance provider Zurich Insurance indicates that almost a third (32 per cent) of homeowners believe that they could break into their own homes.

Probation officer Bob Turney comments explains that many thieves look to capitalise on lax security habits.

"Burglars want an easy way in - and most burglaries are simply a result of thieves taking advantage of householders who've left their homes wide open and there for the taking," he notes.

Mr Turney adds that leaving windows open and using poor-quality locks are some of the common mistakes that homeowners make.

In related news, the British Insurance Brokers' Association recently stated that taking out a home insurance policy should be considered a "social responsibility" and that failing to take out such a financial product could be a costly decision.

Those eager to protect their home could well find that a competitively-priced home insurance policy from InsureandGo is the answer to their problems.
