Taking out travel insurance could be a top priority for those who wish stay in some of the most unusual hotel rooms in the UK.

Research carried out by LateRooms.com has revealed that the top ten places that people wish to stay for a night include Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, Stonehenge, the London Dungeon and Edinburgh Castle.

Jessica Reading, of LateRooms.com, commented: "The UK already offers a wealth of hidden treasures when it comes to unusual hotels, B&B's or guest houses, but we wanted to go the extra mile and give our customers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stay the night in their favourite out-of-bounds destinations."

The company said that it has contacted the ten most popular choices and asked permission to set up a bespoke hotel suite onsite.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Travelodge recently claimed that the budget hotel sector in the UK has so far gone from strength to strength during the economic downturn.

The representative noted that many people are downgrading their hotel stays in order to save on expenses during a break.
