Colorado's Vali Mountain ski resort has been praised for its safety record at the Heads Up National Ski Area Safety Awards.
The Palm Springs ceremony also saw seven other US ski holiday destinations praised by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) for encouraging safety among winter sports holidaymakers.
Among the winners were Beaver Creek and Aspen, winning the prize for best new safety role models and the promotion of safety among young skiers.
"Fun was the common thread that ran through the best safety programmes this season," Tim White, director of education at the NSAA, told First Tracks.
"From Bridger Bowl Bob to Snoqualmie's Helmet Heroes and Beaver Creek's safety characters Harry and Milli, it was more evident than ever that ski area volunteers and employers heartily enjoy the challenge and opportunity to show that safety and fun really do mix."
Ski and snowboard holidays can be fun, but they can also be dangerous so make sure you're covered.
