A new report - Guidelines for the Pastoral Care of the Road - has been released by the Vatican, making sure that motorists don't reserve their sinning for their time behind the wheel.

The 36-page document was prompted by worries that driving brings out the "primitive" aspects of human beings.

In ten commandments it covers everything from road rage, making rude gestures to fellow drivers and respecting pedestrians.

The brief document warned against using cars as objects of "vanity and personal glorification" in order not to arouse feelings of envy on one's fellow passengers.

Cars were also not to be used as a place of sin or to behave in a "barely human manner" while driving.

Praying was allowed while driving – provided both hands were kept on the wheel.

The Vatican itself seems to have little need for the commandments, as it is a small principality with about 1,000 cars and the last accident inside its walls occurred over a year ago.

Don't just rely on prayer while driving, make sure you have good car insurance. Go online or call for great value deals from InsureandGo.
