Yesterday saw this year's four millionth foreign tourist arrive in Vietnam, it has been reported.

And the surprised tourist received a warm welcome to the country, according to news provider Agence France-Presse.

US citizen Michael Davis Magidson was greeted by women wearing traditional dresses and conical hats as he stepped off a plane at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.

Mr Magidson said that he looked forward to seeing the "beautiful" country.

The arrival of the four millionth visitor means that the tourism sector has achieved its annual target regarding numbers of arrivals ahead of time.

In recent days, a ballot by some 90,000 expat and local golfers identified Long Thanh Golf Course as the best attraction of its kind in the country.
