The airline is joining forces with the National Film and Television School for its new Film Festival in the Sky project.

Virgin Atlantic customers will be able to view 14 specially-selected short films while onboard the planes and will over the next four months vote on their favourites.

At the end of June, the votes will be counted and a shortlist of six films produced, which will then be shown for another three months on board flights.

Industry experts will assess the films and choose a winner, who will receive Virgin Atlantic tickets and have their next film shown onboard the planes.

Lysette Gauna, head of brand for Virgin Atlantic, said: "We are delighted to be working with the National Film and Television School and supporting new up and coming film talent.

"Virgin Atlantic has a reputation for award-winning inflight entertainment offering a wide variety of independent films and documentaries in addition to the cinema blockbusters."
