Research carried out at the University Of Warwick has revealed vitamin D could be good for boosting heart health, which could be good news for life insurance holders.

Denise Armstrong, lifestyle manager for Heart Research UK, said the news that high levels of vitamin D could be helpful in reducing the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure in older people is welcome.

She commented: "We are pleased that the review has come out in favour of more vitamin D. We advise people to get out, expose [themselves] to sunlight, eat a healthy diet and make sure they get enough vitamin D."

According to statistics from the British Heart Foundation, coronary heart disease (CHD) claims around 91,000 lives each year in the UK.

In addition, 31 per cent of men and 28 per cent of women in England have high blood pressure, putting them at higher risk of developing CHD in the future.

Brits worried about their heart health might like to take out life insurance with InsureandGo.
