As the cost of petrol once again starts to rise, drivers looking to keep down the cost of motoring expenses such as fuel, taxation and car insurance could find new models from Volvo offer them help.

The Swedish manufacturer is extending its DRIVe range of vehicles to include more cars with lower C02 emissions.

As well as reduced emissions, the cars also offer improved mileage per gallon of fuel, meaning that drivers may not have to visit the petrol station as often as normal.

Some models within the range can offer drivers more than 70 mpg, thanks to the introduction of start/stop technology, which allows the engine to switch off while the car is not moving.

But those who prize their in-car comfort need not worry, as features such as the air conditioning will continue to operate even though the engine is not running.

Volvo claims the technology is "particularly effective" in urban settings, where fuel consumption can be reduced by up to eight per cent.

Drivers looking to save on their car insurance as well as on their fuel bills may find that a policy from InsureandGo offers them the cover they need.ADNFCR-857-ID-19044539-ADNFCR
