Government officials, police officers and those in the insurance industry are working together to tackle vehicle crime.

New initiatives to bring down the incidence of vehicle theft will be discussed at the National Vehicle Crime Conference in Warwickshire next month.

It will look at new developments aimed at cutting car, van and motorcycle crime in the country.

Dr Kenneth German of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI), which is organising the event, said: "The world of auto crime is changing rapidly and dramatically; once common terms such as 'cut and shut' and 'ringing' have given way to the crimes of today such as cloning, staged accidents and identity theft."

The conference will take place between April 24th and 25th.
