Sneezing fits cause more than 2 million incidences of dangerous driving on Britain's roads, a new report has found.
Car insurance provider esure predicts that seven per cent of UK motorists have had an accident, near miss or momentary loss of control as a result of sneezing while driving.
Furthermore, passengers travelling in vehicles were also said to contribute to more than 670,000 accidents in the UK, with sneezing fits causing a distraction to the driver.
"When you think that sneezing once while driving at 70mph could mean travelling almost 300ft with your eyes closed, it's clear that this is a very dangerous issue that could potentially lead to a fatal accident," Professor Brian Lipworth, professor of Allergy and Respiratory medicine at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Dundee, commented.
According to the Daily Mail, many people will already be suffering from hayfever symptoms, with central and southern England found to have the highest pollen counts.
