The Met Office has today issued a series of severe weather warnings throughout the UK, including the whole of the Cornish coast.
Heavy gusts and gales are expected throughout many parts of Britain, with winds of 70 mph expected in some areas today.
Brian Golding, head of forecasting at the Met Office, said: "The arrival of this exceptionally deep area of low pressure is expected to coincide with spring tides on Monday bringing the risk of flooding to western coasts stretching from southern England to northern Scotland."
The warnings come after a number of reports of the increase in the number of
home insurance claims made as a result of last year's storms.
Halifax General Insurance has reported recently that 1.5 million properties incurred roof damage in the past twelve months as a result of high winds, with 200 million tiles replaced throughout the UK.
Homeowners are advised to keep up to date with the latest Met Office warnings by visiting their website or calling its Floodline.
