The phenomenon of user generated content dubbed Web 2.0 has led to the first online community based around travel.
Iloho will be a new site using user-generated news, networking and in-depth travel reviews to bring people together who share common interests in where to go abroad.
The website was created is being backed by Randy Petersen, owner of the WebFlyer Network, who has also created other popular sites such as FlyerTalk.com.
Mr Petersen hopes to combine his various travel ventures, so that the 135,000 users of FlyerTalk.com will be able to link their forum threads to Iloho.
Other sponsors include two Asian airlines, Japan Airlines and Oasis Hong Kong Airlines.
To promote the site, these sponsors will initially promote a competition to find the sites best contributors.
Iloho will pool together travel blogs and social networking to ensure that travellers can give each other the best possible advice.
'Iloho is set to inject online travel with fresh dynamism and excitement. We offer a truly unique community that incorporates the very best forum, social networking and route review functions,' said the chief executive of the site, Andrea Liu.
