Social networking website Twitter could help people plan their holiday, it has been claimed.
And while this may be the case, tourists should not rely on anyone else to sort out their essential
holiday insurance cover.
Writing for the Telegraph, Donald Strachan says that the site - which allows people to tell others what they are doing in "micro-blogs" - could help people arrange a break as they can seek the recommendations of fellow users.
Chief executive officer of tourism consultancy GoSeeTell Network Martin Stoll told the newspaper that nearly 200 destination marketing organisations (DMO) in North America use the service.
"The advantage for a visitor is that they can use Twitter to get answers without picking up the phone or sending an email and best of all the conversation with the DMO will be public," he said.
The Guardian notes that the site is creating an "extraordinary buzz".
InsureandGo can offer holiday insurance for a trip anywhere, from domestic breaks to far-flung trips.
