Brits planning to take out
adventure insurance for the trip of a lifetime might like to consider Western Australia as their destination of choice, it has been claimed.
Elen Thomas, UK PR manager for Tourism Western Australia, said the region offers a wide range of attractions, including a number of World Heritage sites - Ningaloo Reef and the Bungle Bungle Range - as well as Purnululu national park.
She commented: "You can have these experiences out there which are just incredible value for money. Some of the best ways to do it if you are on a bit of a budget is to drive yourself, maybe even pick up a campervan."
According to figures published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there were 12.4 million overseas arrivals and 12.3 million departures in 2009 - making a record of 24.7 million international movements across Australia's borders.
New Zealand, the UK and the US were the three top source countries, accounting for 40 per cent of all short-term visitor arrivals.
InsureandGo offers adventure insurance for anyone planning a trip across Australia.
