When it comes to planning finances such as loans, mortgages and life insurance, women tend to take a more generalised approach than men, it has been claimed.

Anna Sofat, director of AJS Wealth Management, has said that by comparison, men tend to take financial advice based on more specific problems.

"Typically women tend to come with the view that they want things looked at overall. There may be things not quite right in several areas," she comments.

Men, on the other hand, tend to want advice specifically about mortgages or a pension for example, she continues.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 70 per cent of UK residents have money saved in deposit accounts, shares and individual savings accounts, while around 19 per cent of Britons hold a life insurance policy.

In news that may be of interest to those looking to take out a home insurance policy, the ONS also states that around 14 per cent of Britons have valuables in their homes worth over £30,000 or more.

InsureandGo offers home insurance policies to cover the cost of a property and its contents, as well as life insurance services to provide assurance for the future.
