The first-ever recyclable Travelodge is due to be completed in Uxbridge, it has been announced.
Created from 86 steel modules that look like shipping containers, the facility will look and feel no different to any of the other 330 hotels that the chain operates in the UK, Spain and Ireland.
Paul Harvey, director of property and development at the brand, comments: "It could facilitate the creation of hotels on a temporary basis to open in times of peak demand in certain locations - such as festivals or major sporting events."
He notes that such new technology could change the way in which the hotel industry operates.
The modules for the Uxbridge facility are created in China and shipped to the UK with plasterboard walls and bathrooms already in place.
Over the festive period, Travelodge offered a free night's accommodation to couples called Mary and Joseph.
