While many young drivers may be eager to go in search of the car of their dreams, they should remember that
car insurance costs will soar with expensive vehicles, it has been suggested.
Commenting recently, Malcolm Tarling, insurance specialist at the Association of British Insurers, claimed that it is not worth spending a large sum on a vehicle if the insurance costs are unmanageable.
Advising those young motorists looking to cut cover costs, he said that looking at which insurance bracket a vehicle fits into should be a number one priority.
Following on from this, people were urged to shop around.
"You will find that even for young drivers it is a competitive market. There are a range of policies," Mr Tarling said.
Elsewhere, Every Investor has advised young motorists not to modify their car, as doing so can have a significant upward effect on car premiums.
Online shopping was also advised, as there are often a range of discounts available, the group claimed.
