Young and new drivers in the UK are being advised to think small when it comes to purchasing a new motor in order to keep their
car insurance no claims bonus intact.
Peter Staddon, head of technical services at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, said that he did not believe the country was heading towards an uninsurable generation because there were so many new ideas and ways of paying coming from the industry.
And he added that lower performance cars would play a part in this as if a person was learning to drive they did not need a powerful car but should be working to understand the road.
"If you have a smaller car it could help to build up your no claims bonus and that is something we try and encourage young drivers to do," Mr Staddon explained.
Research published in the latest edition of Advanced Driving revealed that uninsured drivers are typically young males living in urban areas.
Car insurance from
InsureandGo can cover any driver against an accident causing damage to a vehicle.
